HammerTech Racecars’ Fire Suppression Kits Have Ultimate Safety In Mind
An Indiana company gets out in front of the new ODSS safety rules, offering all-inclusive fire suppression systems to keep you legal in 2024.
For the 2024 Outlaw Diesel Super Series race season, fire suppression systems will be mandatory for all “Pro” racing categories (excluding Pro Dragster). The new safety requirements come on the heels of a race season that yielded a few fiery crashes, one of which resulted in a total vehicle loss. The new regulation is highly welcomed by most, if not all, drivers. It calls for a minimum of a 10-pound fire extinguisher being onboard, as well as at least two nozzles pointed at the driver.
In partnering with SPA Technique, HammerTech Racecars has spearheaded the new ODSS fire suppression rule and is offering comprehensive fire suppression systems that will include everything you need to remain legal in 2024. HammerTech has already developed 10 and 20-pound fire-suppression kits, and also offers additional nozzles, firewall bulkhead fittings, tee fittings, and even FireSense extinguishers that utilize the groundbreaking 4Fire suppression agent. 4Fire, unlike the familiar Novec, is capable of all but eliminating the possibility of reignition after a fire. It’s also non-corrosive and water soluble, making it less likely than other fire extinguishing chemicals to damage the vehicle.
HammerTech even offers an automatic activation valve option, which automatically sets the fire suppression system off once the valve’s integrated filament registers 286 degrees F. This feature has the potential to save a life in the event of a crash rendering the driver unconscious.
ODSS classes impacted by the new fire safety decree include the Pro Mod, Pro Street, and 5.90 Index categories. As diesel drag racers continue to break new ground in terms of trap speed and elapsed times, expect to see more safety requirements appear in the years ahead—and that’s a good thing. Diesel drag racing has never been more entertaining than it is at the present time and, thankfully, companies like HammerTech are working diligently to keep it exciting and safe.
