HEADLINES: Big Numbers From The 7th Annual Dyno For Charity Event
A built 6.4L on the cheap, a Cummins clears 2,000 hp on the rollers, a vote to stop new EPA regulations, and a thrash fest on the eve of Rudy’s Spring Truck Jam.
Each spring, the east coast truck show and dyno competition presented by Big Time Kustomz known as the Dyno for Charity event takes place in New Jersey, and for 2024 there were some very big numbers being applied to the rollers. Topping the list was Dustin Donadio’s third-gen Cummins, with a 1,482-rwhp effort on fuel and 2,085-rwhp on nitrous. Dustin followed his impressive performance on the dyno with a move that lacked nothing in the way of class—he promptly donated his winnings back to the Breathe For Michael foundation (#Breatheformichael).

Maverick Diesel Preps For Rudy’s Spring Truck Jam
Team #truegrit as we like to call them, or Maverick Diesel, is knee-deep swapping engines in their Pro Street second-gen this week in preparation for Rudy’s Spring Truck Jam. After piston damage surfaced at the first ODSS race of the year, Maverick Diesel owner Paul Cato was all but forced to settle for Second Place points. This weekend, a brand-new deck-plate short-block will ensure that isn’t the case. Paul and team expect to have the engine in and up and running Monday or early Tuesday, hope to make a few test hits on Wednesday, and then load up and haul 700 miles to Rudy’s. How about that work ethic!

Score A Built 6.4L At A Very Affordable Price
Deals like this don’t come along very often, so if you’re in the market for a built 6.4L you better pounce. Due to a Kill Devil Diesel customer’s truck being stolen the same week his short-block was ready to ship out, this rock-solid assembly now needs a new home. Better yet, it can be yours for $12,100 (plus shipping). Details on the build include: CNC blueprint machined, Carrillo forged-steel rods, HD MaxxForce 7 pistons, and a Kill Devil Stage 2 street performance cam. It’s a bottom-end combination that can easily support four-digit horsepower in a reliable, long-term manner.

Be Vigilant When Ordering “OEM” Parts
Now more than ever, it pays to pay attention where your parts are being sourced from. Chinese-made counterfeits are everywhere (namely online retailers), and some “OEM-appearing” parts even come in genuine Bosch packaging. The same thing is being done with Ford/Motorcraft and Chrysler parts, as well as with many others. Our best advice? Buy from a reputable source—and if a deal seems too good to be true, it likely (and almost always) is. You never want to risk having to buy expensive components such as injectors and injection pumps twice.

Last Chance To Stop The Coming Ban On Gas And Diesel-Powered Vehicles
The U.S. Senate is set to vote on a bill that prohibits funding for the EPA’s new 2027 final rule, regulations that, if allowed to stand, will effectively kill off the internal combustion engine in light-duty vehicles. The bill, S. 4072, will prevent the agency from using funds to implement, administer and/or enforce these new, ultra-stringent tailpipe emissions standards. Introduced by Idaho Senator Mike Crapo (R), the bill enjoys full support from the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and may very well be the last stand in ensuring gas and diesel-powered vehicles have a future in this country. Click here to drop your local representative a line on why he or she should support the bill.
