HEADLINES: SDP’s Twin-Turbo C10 Masterpiece

An 1,100 hp 6.0L Power Stroke, a 2,000hp no-prep Dodge, Sterling Diesel Performance’s twin-turbo Duramax C10, and a Duramax streamliner bound for the salt flats.

1972 Chevy C10 Duramax Swap Twin Turbo Duramax Diesel

Many of you know Dustin Sterling from his days campaigning a 5.90 Index Duramax (an ’07 4×4 that’s now capable of running 4’s) or for his full-service shop, Sterling Diesel Performance, in Splendora, Texas. However, this showpiece illustrates a different side of what he and his team are capable of. It’s a project that pairs a fully restored ’72 C10 body with a shortened, ‘07 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD chassis. Under the hood, a true twin turbo arrangement (i.e. parallels), consisting of a 58mm Garrett GTX charger feeding each bank, feeds the built Duramax a healthy diet of boost (each turbo produces 45-50 psi apiece!). The truck was on display at the Classic Truck Throwdown in Conroe, Texas over the weekend.

Street Diesel Throwdown

Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab Third Gen Cummins Diesel Drag Race

A2 Motorsport’s Adam Aquino made a trip to Street Diesel Throwdown and ended up stealing the show in the Unlimited class. His nasty, hard-launching quad cab third-gen Cummins also earned the fastest trap speed at the event, trapping 129 mph through the eighth-mile. Combine that trap speed with a race weight of over 6,000 pounds and the horsepower calculator says his Dodge sends more than 2,000 hp to the pavement. The truck, cordially referred to as “Betty,” benefits from S&S fueling, Hardway tuning, a Hart’s turbo, and a healthy dose of nitrous. An A2 Motorsport-built transmission and 29.5-inch Hoosier radials are also along for the ride.

A Cummins-Powered Corvette Invades Alberta Diesel Day

1963 Cummins Corvette Team Trippplemax Diesel Drag Racing

If you’ve been following Team Trippplemax, you know that their Cummins-propelled ’63 Corvette has dominated the NHRDA Pro Mod class this season. Over the weekend, driver Wade Minter and the Truck Source Diesel team put in another impressive showing, this time up in Canada at RAD Torque Raceway for the Alberta Diesel Day event presented by MHPD and Double D Mechanical. The split-window ‘Vette made 4.5x second passes at more than 160 mph look easy. The event itself was jam-packed with spectators, vendors, and racers—a great sign for drag racing in the Edmonton, Alberta area. Look for this one to return in 2025.

A Duramax Bound For The Salt

Duramax Diesel Streamliner Bonneville Salt Flats Wagler

After three trips to California this year, S&S Diesel Motorsport’s Andre Dusek has a Duramax-powered lakester/streamliner just about ready for the Bonneville Salt Flats. The car, campaigned by Pilgrim & Stubbs Land Speed Racing and built at Maxwell Industries, sports a Keith Dorton-built engine from Automotive Specialists with an integrated air to water intercooler from Wagler Competition Products, S&S fueling and—thanks to a complete one-off wiring harness—an S&S calibrated, MoTeC stand-alone ECU. Recent hub dyno sessions show the car making 1,330 hp and 1,480 lb-ft—numbers that will likely have to be sustained for each of the streamliner’s record attempts at Speedweek. A hot, dry July will likely guarantee new streamliner records are set at Bonneville this year. Stay tuned…

Austin Denny’s 1,100 HP Daily Driver

6.0L Power Stroke Ford Super Duty Diesel Dyno

When he isn’t pushing his Pro Street 6.0L deeper into the 5’s or prepping the coming Pro Mod Lightning project for race duty, Austin Denny takes his “spare” truck to the dyno day. His crew cab Super Duty (6.0L-powered, of course) cleared an impressive 917 hp aboard the rollers on fuel alone, and then turned out 1,160 hp courtesy of a quick ghetto fog—good enough for the win. Warren Diesel 330cc hybrid injectors and a 76mm over 88mm set of compounds from Bullseye Power highlight the key power-making ingredients in his potent parts combination. There might not be anyone in the diesel industry more die-hard 6.0L than Austin Denny.
