Dyno Certified: Ford Puts 100 HP On The GM And Ram Competition
An 18mm Sigma, a 7.3L block upgrade, Ford’s 6.7L Power Stroke remains top dog on the dyno, and diesel drag racing from SICK Summer and FP Diesel Warz.
Leave it to the truth-telling SuperFlow at Edge Products to hurt feelings, kickstart a bevy of verbal throwdowns and, in recent years, allow Ford owners to pound their chests. These are the results of a recent Big Three dyno showdown at the Ogden, Utah facility where ’25 model Ford, GM, and Ram diesels were pitted against each other—and the load cell SuperFlow. Same dyno, same dyno operator, and same correction factor. In looking at the dyno graphs, it’s quickly apparent that Ford’s high output 6.7L Power Stroke (what Edge’s test mule is powered by) puts our more horsepower and torque throughout the power band than the others—it doesn’t just spike up and peak quickly. Of course, both graphs also confirm that Ford remains the clear, front-of-the-pack truck at the present time.
’25 6.7L Power Stroke H.O.: 504 hp / 1,181 lb-ft
’25 L5P Duramax: 409 hp / 910 lb-ft
’25 6.7L Cummins: 403 hp / 989 lb-ft

The Scramble At SICK Summer

Our friends Dustin and Ryan from Wehrli Custom Fabrication ran SICK Summer last week with everyone’s new favorite short bed. After clicking off 10.80s in the compound turbo’d ’01 Silverado, it was determined that a roll bar addition would be required to continue. Not to worry, the master fabricators headed 180 miles back to the shop for the change and, after a quick turnaround, were back in the hunt and headed to Earlville, Iowa’s Tri-State Raceway. Throughout the 5-day drag ‘n drive, WC Fab’s LB7 Duramax-powered shorty dipped into the 10.60s through the quarter-mile and averaged 16.5-mpg during its track-to-track commutes.

FP Diesel Warz

The Outlaw Diesel Super Series rolled into Crossville, Tennessee over the weekend for the first FP Diesel Warz event. Eleven 5.70 Index drivers would make the call, with Skylar Fornes beating out Spencer Prichard in an exciting final (shwon). Paul Cato would earn the win in Pro Truck and, in a surprise upset, Nathannial DeLong bested Nick Bell in Super Diesel. Jayle Wagler would finish out front in Top Diesel and also run a new personal best in her Duramax-powered rail. 6.70 Index would belong to Andy Hacker after beating out last year’s champion, Jeremy Stickney, the 7.70 Index hardware went home with Kameron Campbell, and Charles Palmer sewed things up in ET Bracket.

Billet-To-Order Sigma From Fair Valley Performance

Last week, we told you the folks at WP Developments were looking to trade in O-Line’s single turbo for triples and replace the 16mm P7100 with a Sigma pump. Well, true to form, the folks there are acting quickly. Here, you can see the freshly machined (and polished) Sigma housing Fair Valley Performance created at its diesel component service center. The ragged-edge, competition pump is equipped with 18mm plungers and is capable of flowing as much as 2,350 cc’s of fuel (vs. 1,600 cc’s with the P7100). It also features built-in timing control and an ability to advance timing as much as 25 degrees as throttle input increases. Stay tuned. The triple 107mm turbo arrangement is next…
7.3L Block Upgrade For Jelibuilt’s Pro Mod Super Duty

Jelibuilt Performance took delivery of one of these last week: a compacted graphite iron (CGI) block from Hypermax Engineering. Unfortunately, Brian Jelich cracked the factory based crankcase at the first ODSS race of the year back in May. However, with CGI often 75-percent stronger (as well as 20-percent lighter) than its cast-iron equivalent, hopefully it means improved reliability at 1,500 hp for Brian’s next-level 7.3L. If you recall, the truck was built to chase the overall eighth-mile 4×4 7.3L record—and right out of the gate it ran a pair of 5.27s, one at 131 mph and the other at 133 mph.
