SPIED: The 6.7L Power Stroke That’s Bringing 1,400+ HP To Indy

Inside a wild Seventy 2 Fast class engine build, Crazyhorse takes second at Cleetus MacFarland’s AWD vs. RWD shootout, and the blueprint for a 1,000hp 7.3L.

6.7L Powerstroke Diesel Ford Super Duty 4x4 Truck Race Engine

We are seeing some truly wild engine combinations pieced together for the $100,000 Seventy 2 Fast race this June—and this may be the wildest yet. ODSS regular Brad Helton of Rowdy’s Automotive & Motorsports knows a thing or two about getting a 6.7L Ford through the eighth-mile in a hurry (think 5-second ET’s), and this is a spy shot of what he’s bringing to Indianapolis. Rumor has it that Brad was able to squeeze more than 1,400 hp through the VS Racing spec charger (the 72/89/1.01 T4 unit everyone has to run). If this is true—and he shows up with a 6,000-pound truck—we’re going to see the first Seventy 2 Fast pass in the 5’s…

Crazyhorse Takes Second At Cleetus MacFarland’s AWD vs. RWD Shootout

Crazyhorse Ford Super Duty Cummins Swap No Prep Diesel Truck 4x4 Drag Racing

Last Thursday, the spring rendition of the greatest backside race ever created went down in Bradenton, Florida—and Nathan Wheeler and Team Crazyhorse were in town, going rounds. That is until meeting Willy Dynamite’s blazing fast Mustang in the final. There, an over-amperage issue with Nathan’s ECU Master PMU kept his final two kits of nitrous from coming on. Rest assured, a bigger PMU has already been ordered, and Nathan and crew will have to change very little (if anything) to come back stronger in the fall. Nathan’s new Freedom Racing Engines deck-plate Cummins did its job, Hot Shot’s Secret once again supplied all the right fluids, S&S Diesel Motorsport took care of the fueling, and Truck Source Diesel made the trip, offering on-site support. Check out the full recap here.

Prepping For The Big Stage: Tristan DeVries Is All-In For UCC

2010 Ram 2500 Cummins Diesel 4x4 Truck Drag Race Ultimate Callout Challenge

This might be Tristan DeVries’ first year competing in Ultimate Callout Challenge, but he doesn’t plan to show up and finish mid-pack… In fact, the Wisconsin native has been knee-deep in UCC prep for months, and likely since deciding to run the ODSS 5.90 Index circuit for 2026. Tristan just added the finishing touches to his competition fuel system: a set of Flux Diesel injectors to complement the Forced Inductions compounds that feed his 6.4L Cummins. Tristan has owned his ’10 Ram 2500 since he was just 18 years old, and once upon a time it was even used as a farm truck. Staying true to its street truck roots, the fourth-gen still rocks a full interior and factory sheet metal.

Sneak Peek At A 1,000hp Standard Cab 7.3L Build

7.3L Powerstroke Ford F250 Super Duty Regular Cab 4x4 Diesel Truck

Fifteen years ago, the thought of a streetable, 1,000hp 7.3L Power Stroke would’ve been laughable—especially if you were sticking with the factory HEUI injection system. Nowadays, and thanks to 7.3L die-hards like Jelibuilt Performance, it’s not only possible, but it’s more common than you think. Jelibuilt’s latest four-digit horsepower venture will revolve around this ultra-clean, standard cab Super Duty. A built long block from Kill Devil Diesel will be graced with 350/200 Evolution series hybrid injectors from Full Force Diesel, an Irate Diesel competition fuel system to support them, and a Rican Built T4 turbo system up top. A ball bearing 72mm VS Racing turbo will get the nod. Jelibuilt tuning via a Power Hungry Performance Hydra Chip, an Edge Insight CTS3, and a competition 4R100 from Twisted Diesel will also come along for the ride. Last but not least, a two-stage Nitrous Express system will boost the truck from 750 hp on fuel to 1,000 hp (or more).

Wagler’s Mechanical Belt Tensioner For Dual CP3 Setups

Wagler Competition Products Duramax Diesel Mechanical Serpentine Belt Tensioner

When it comes to competition Duramax engines, the folks at Wagler have thought of everything—including this mechanical belt tensioner. It directly replaces the weak factory spring belt tensioner. Especially when running a belt-driven dual CP3 arrangement, Wagler’s tensioner eliminates serpentine belt slippage. The bolt-on piece fits all LLY, LBZ, and LMM engines and retails for $285.53. The version that integrates on 2002-2004 model year LB7’s (note that the 2001 model LB7 Duramax is excluded) runs $350.65. Drag racers, sled pullers, and hot street truck owners alike have been running Wagler’s mechanical belt tensioners for years without issue, and many consider it a must-have item for any high-horsepower build.
