CARB: Regulating Diesel Out Of Existence
And now an update on the EV future no one wants…
A new CARB regulation, coined the Advanced Clean Fleets (ACF), will dictate a 100-percent zero emission vehicle (ZEV) requirement for ALL Class 2b-8 vehicles sold in California beginning in 2036.
The ACF ruling builds on the Advanced Clean Truck (ACT) regulation from 2020, which forces ZEV mandates on the truck manufacturers themselves in order to make certain that ZEV vehicles are available, effectively ensuring that ZEV trucks are purchased by all California-based fleets.
If you know anything about the current alphabet soup being used in the automotive and transportation world you know there is no such thing as a ZEV. Transferring the source of pollution from the tailpipe to the powerplant doesn’t free a vehicle of its emissions output. But we digress.
Why is this news so important to report? Because California emission laws are almost always a precursor for what sweeps across the rest of the country.
