Fresh Off The Hub Dyno: David Petrick’s 3,700+ HP Diesel Pro Mod
David Petrick’s frame-laying 4×4 diesel Pro Mod clears 3,700 hp on the hub dyno, Neal Nissen’s street terror makes 1,525 hp, and action from the Southern Ohio Smoke Show.
David Petrick’s frame-laying 4×4 Pro Mod is one of the most-followed builds ever undertaken in the diesel industry—and last week it came one step closer to hitting the track. On the hub dyno at S&S Diesel Motorsport, David’s Wagler CX400 Cummins-powered, Firepunk-built third-gen made an incredible 3,710 hp (and 3,513 lb-ft). In a matter of hours, David’s brand-new, MoTeC-controlled build went from only ever being idled to making a finely controlled 3,700 hp. Thanks to the engineers at S&S and Firepunk’s Lavon Miller working side by side, what would have never been possible only a few years ago is now poised to be the norm. According to Lavon, the engine saw 6,280 rpm (peak), the truck saw 175 mph, and the dyno runs were made in 4.0 to 4.6-second intervals (with fuel quantity and nitrous ramping the same way they will on the track)—presumably to simulate how long it’ll take for the truck to cover the 1/8-mile…
Street Or ‘Strip
1,525 HP And Ice-Cold A/C…

Another nasty Cummins hit the hub dyno last week, but this one is intended for both street and track use. Neal Nissen’s ’08 Ram 1500 spent the winter under the knife and came out completely reborn—making 1,525 hp at Horsepower Proving Grounds. Neal’s new recipe consists of an 8.50 certified cage, a reworked four-link suspension, an 88mm GT5533R, a single Exergy Performance Alpha 550 CP3, a new engine with ECU Master controlling everything, and Hardway Performance on the keyboard. A Muldoon’s trans-brake valve body was also added to Neal’s homebuilt 48RE. He plans to get the truck deep into the 5’s on race day, and then enjoy the truck’s factory A/C system when tooling around town.

Brand-New Pullers Hit The Track

A pair of brand-new, Scheid-powered pulling trucks hit the circuit recently in the form of Greg Strandlie’s Pro Stock class, late-model Super Duty named “Outta Patience” and Preston Collins’ “Sentinel Prime” Super Stock GMC. On top of that, Mike Hearn’s “Bad Attitude,” a truck that was completely reborn from the ground up at Ground Shaker in Muncy, Pennsylvania is benefitting from Scheid propulsion this season. While some say pulling is dead, we have to disagree. High-caliber, best-of-the-best builds like these are in the highest demand we’ve ever seen. Did you know there are roughly 40 Super Stock diesel trucks roaming around North America at the present time?

A 7.3L On The 2-Step!

When the movers and shakers in the diesel industry work together, anything is possible. And in the world of the 7.3L Power Stroke, collaboration is helping to not only keep performance interest in this aging platform alive, but it’s also serving to advance it. At Ultimate Callout Challenge, Jelibuilt Performance came to Power Hungry Performance’s Bill Cohron with an idea: create a staging limiter for the 7.3L using the brake pedal input—all done via tuning. No custom wiring. No special switches required. After both Christian Brezik and Ethan Hurtt allowed their 7.3L’s to be guinea pigs (an OBS and a Super Duty), Bill was able to build a functioning staging limiter for both versions. Expect to see this as a tuning option from Jelibuilt and PHP in the near future.

Southern Ohio Smoke Show

Mother Nature might not have played nice at the Southern Ohio Smoke Show, but despite the weather conditions Randy Roquet and his crew were still able to pull off a blockbuster event in Georgetown, Ohio over the weekend. Among other activities (including a truck and tractor pull, epic burnout war, dyno competition, and show ‘n shine), it served as the second stop on the 2026 Diesel Dirt Drag Tour. Regular Hub City Dirt Drag attendees, Daden Oberbreckling, Dawson Durst, and Jonny Hooper all made the trip, and even brought home some hardware. Daden laid claim to the W in the Hot Street Diesel dirt drags class, Dawson won the Street Diesel dirt drags class, and Jonny took top honors for a Dodge on the dyno with his P-pumped 12-valve making a cool, 1,080 hp on the rollers (shown).
