2,347 HP For The Hawk Performance Diesel Duramax
Hawk Performance Diesel’s Duramax wins the WC Fab Open House dyno day, LoganBuilt eyes resetting the 12-valve 1/8-mile record, and Josh McCormack plans to up the L5P ante.
If you’re a fan of the Duramax, Cody Hawk and the team at Hawk Performance Diesel are a great group to pay attention to. When this standard cab Silverado isn’t competing in UCC, it’s making guest appearances at dyno events throughout the year. Over the weekend, Cody and his crew (including driver, Morey Logue) showed up at the biennial WCFab Open House to hit the rollers. Their goal? 3,000 hp uncorrected on the Northwest Diesel Series SuperFlow. Although they came up a tad shy, it wasn’t for lack of trying. Roughly 500 rpm before reaching peak power (5,500 rpm…), the passenger side intake manifold blew off bank 1, abruptly ending their day. However, a 2,347hp showing proved good enough for First Place, they took home the $4,000 Unlimited Class payout, and the engine lives to fight another day.

Is This Mechanical Masterpiece Going To Set New 12-Valve Records?

How fast do you think a 12-valve can go in a full size 4×4 truck? It’s a question LoganBuilt’s Logan Yelton posed on social media last week with the accompanying photo. Trust us, if someone like Logan is asking the question, he likely has the record on his mind… Will this cast-iron 6.7L block, aluminum head Cummins have enough pump, air, and nitrous to beat Seth Sullivan’s 5.41-second pass (a 12-valve record) from a decade ago? With a LoganBuilt transmission packing Goerend parts behind it, a low 5-second performer can’t be ruled out. Keep your eyes peeled as to what full size truck this bullet makes it into…

Brace For Impact: Hub City Weekend Is Coming

Hub City is well known for its dirt drags, but the truck and tractor pulling action that unfolds at this event is arguably just as entertaining as the heads-up drag racing that takes place on the same surface. With nearly 20 truck and tractor pulling classes commencing on Friday, expect a big turnout for this year’s Hub City Dirt Drags October 9th and 10th. The Diesel Truck Challenge has ballooned to 39 entries for 2026, a huge show ‘n shine will be on tap, the Northwest Dyno Series chassis dyno will be onsite measuring horsepower all weekend, and burnout road will be open for anyone willing to shred tires.
Pushing The L5P Envelope Even Further

Whether it’s due to “forced upgrades” or the king of Cummins horsepower simply isn’t satisfied with the L5P Duramax record he set at Diesels In The Mountains, Josh McCormack is tearing into his late-model GMC. With suspected bent rods following the 2,097-rwhp performance (1,609-rwhp uncorrected) in Utah, Josh plans to spend the cold months performing a few engine updates, testing new parts, and changing up the turbo system. Without question, the L5P platform offers the most horsepower potential and the highest threshold for pain of any Duramax ever produced—and we have a feeling Mr. McCormack will shatter his own record soon.

D&J Enters The Duramax Segment

D&J Precision Machine in the Duramax market? Who’d a thunk it! Yes, it’s true. For the first time ever, the creators and builders of the Enforcer series Cummins (among other well-known 5.9L and 6.7L variants) are bringing their expertise to the Duramax segment. Turning the same first-rate machining standards, quality control, and diesel engineering loose on the LML platform, the company developed two reman long block options for ’11-’16 GM owners. The Essentials package addresses several of the LML’s known weak links at a budget-friendly price point while the Precision Plus version adds select upgrades and a more complete engine assembly. In D&J’s own words: “Cummins reliability just met the 6.6L Duramax.”
