A flatbed, standard cab third-gen Ram on beadlocks and slicks? If you’ve yet to catch veteran racer Larry Brown and his ’07 Dodge in action, you’re missing out. Over the years, Larry’s 10-second farm truck has surprised spectators and fellow racers alike. It’s a truck that’s not only long-been known for being the quintessential sleeper, but consistently fast as well. Friday night, Larry put the truck’s latest “improvements” to work at the Texas Truck Jam event in Ennis, Texas, grabbing the full-size street class win during the no prep race that was held at the top end of the Texas Motorplex drag strip.

2017 Ford F-250 Power Stroke TorqShift Transmission Record

The record for quickest eighth-mile elapsed time for the Ford 6R140 TorqShift has been heating up lately, and the newest leader is Jimmy Dallaire Beauchemin. The owner of JDB Diesel Performance sent the company’s standard cab ‘17+ F-250 through the ‘660 in 5.74 seconds recently (at 123 mph). That 1.33-second 60-foot you see here means business, too… It’s yet another sign that the 6.7L Power Stroke is becoming a more and more capable engine platform. Look for the former guardian of the record, ODSS 5.90 Index racer Brad Helton (5.85), to take another stab at it in the near future.

Team S&S Helps Set Three Land Speed Records at Bonneville

Pilgrim and Stubbs Streamliner Lakester Diesel Land Speed Record

The Southern California Timing Association’s Speed Week is always a busy place this time of year, and one of the busiest support teams at Bonneville in 2024 was S&S Diesel Motorsport. The company provided the injectors, dual 12mm CP3’s, and S&S/MoTeC control system (Hardway Performance tunes the stand-alone ECU) that helped the 6.7L Cummins in Tim Boyle’s “Thunder in the Morning” streamliner earn the title of Speed Week’s Fastest Diesel. S&S was also behind David Pilgrim’s Maxwell Industries-built streamliner (shown), which achieved the A/DS land speed record (average speed 273.313 mph). Additionally, the company aided the efforts of Bill Wendt’s Mighty Mouse, a 1.5L Renault diesel-powered Crosley pickup which would end up claiming a new H/DT land speed record of 144.432 mph.

HUGE 3.0 Turnout At Horsepower In Horse Country

Limited Pro Stock Diesel Truck Cummins GMC

Limited Pro Stock trucks showed up in droves for this year’s Horsepower In Horse Country event. The Friday/Saturday affair drew 35 3.0 smooth bore diesel trucks to the Shelby County fairgrounds in Shelbyville, Kentucky.  On Friday, Cody Lee’s second-gen Cummins (“Kong”) moved the sled 327 feet and change for the win. The following night, it was Landon Perkins’ Dodge in the winner’s circle, which ensures Landon remains a front-runner in the PPL points chase for 2024. Rumor has it that the high turnout trend will continue this weekend at the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza. Jennifer Pushlar’s “Hellfire” Cummins-powered GMC, which finished sixth on Friday, is pictured.

No BS OBS Truck Show Ford 7.3L Power Stroke

If you’re into old body style Fords, then the Pacific Northwest is the place for you to be each August. Hosted at Powerland Heritage Park in Salem, Oregon—and made possible by OBS Solutions, Sky’s Off-Road Design, CP Addict, Carrick Customs, Napa Auto Parts, Crabtree Automotive and others—the No BS OBS Truck Show boasts the largest gathering of 1980-1997 Fords and Broncos in the country. The sixth annual show was held over the weekend, complete with a two-day swap meet and vendor row, a show ‘n shine competition, and a sponsor raffle with over $30,000 worth of items up for grabs. Power Hungry Performance was on hand and, in addition to giving away more than 300 T-shirts, gave an unsuspecting 7.3L Power Stroke owner a free Hydra Chip—complete with a live install and demo for attendees.
