New 48RE 1/8-Mile Record: 4.82 at 155 MPH

UCC champ Myer Stump buries the 48RE record, Matt Santjer’s wheels-up BMW goes 5.50s, and a stock bottom end L5P Duramax gets treated to 1,300hp worth of fuel and air.

UCC 2026 champ Myer Stump has been busy lately. Not only did he set a new Beaman Builds dyno record (3,138-rwhp) but he also broke the 1/8-mile record for a Chrysler 48RE. At the NHRDA Big Sky Truck Fest, Myer’s 5,000-pound, common-rail powered second-gen Cummins leapt off the line (to the tune of a 1.25-second 60-foot) and covered the ‘660 in 4.82 seconds at 154.74 mph—an improvement over the 4.90-second pass at the same trap speed at UCC. But in addition to the record-setting pass, Myer also earned the Pro Street win. Not a bad weekend for the humble hero from Power Driven Diesel.

Santjer Performance Development’s 5-Second, Wheels-Up Diesel BMW

Bmw 335d Triple Turbo Diesel Drag Race Luxury Sedan Car

A triple-turbo, nitrous-huffing M57-powered BMW? Yes please! Santjer Performance Development has been pushing the 335d platform for many years now, and on a recent trip to the track owner Matt Santjer set a new personal best in his S&S fueled beast. How about a 5.54 at 129 mph! Just don’t let the slicks in the rear fool you. Matt’s ‘bimmer is very much still a streetcar. In fact, his 335d still sports a full interior, ice-cold A/C, and races at full factory weight. The car also experienced an epic nitrous backfire during its last outing (just check out the video here). Thankfully, when the charge pipe blew, several silicone boots came apart, ultimately limiting any extensive (charge air system or engine) damage.

Leaning On A Built 10-Speed Allison

Compound Turbo L5p Duramax Diesel Chevy Silverado Wp Developments Allison 10 Speed

We knew WP Developments’ L5P Silverado test truck wouldn’t get beaten by the company Super Duty for long… As they set out to prove what a WP-built 10L1000 Allison can handle, the Duramax is being treated to hundreds of extra horsepower. The Bow Ties’ new recipe boasts a set of 200-percent over injectors and a 14mm CP3 from S&S Diesel Motorsport, an AirDog lift pump, two turbos from Forced Inductions, and a wicked looking compound system whipped up by WP’s resident fabricator. It’s all part of an ongoing (friendly) feud between the company’s 10R140-equipped, 6.7L Power Stroke Ford and this beautiful Gen 2 L5P.

Cummins-Swapped ’77 K20

1977 Chevy K20 Cummins Swap Diesel Conversion 4x4 Truck Compound Turbo 5.9L

When Big Bear Engine and Herring Auto team up on a project, things tend to escalate quickly. Case in point, this 1977 Chevy K20 received a boxed frame, an Offroad Design four-link and coilover conversion with 18-inch King 3.0 coilover shocks, a beefed up front Dana 60, and a 14-bolt out back, complete with an Artec Industries truss. The rest of the drivetrain includes an Allison 1000 transmission, an NP235 transfer case, ARB air lockers front and rear, and 5.13 gearing. A 210hp Big Bear 6BTAA extended long block will power the old school Chevy (which will roll on 42×15.50 mud terrains wrapped around 22-inch Hostile wheels), but with a few healthy fueling tweaks and compound turbos…

Diesel Drags & Truck Show In Byron

WC Fab Lb7 Duramax Regular Cab Short Bed Chevy Silverado 2500 Hd Drag Race

For years, Byron Dragway, home of the World Power Wheel Standing Championships, has been friendly to the compression-ignition crowd—and the track’s great relationship with Wehrli Custom Fabrication is a good reason why that’s the case. On September 12th, WC Fab will present yet another diesel drags and truck show event at the legendary quarter-mile facility in Byron, Illinois. You’ll find WC Fab’s drag-n-drive shortbed on the premises, all cleaned up and making deep-10-second passes. We were there last year and had an absolute blast. Expect to see one-of-a-kind diesel swaps, high-powered street trucks, and a host of sleepers out on the track.
