Another 4,000+ HP Dyno Performance Out West

Fresh off a 4,029 hp performance at Diesels In The Mountains, Myer Stump brought his UCC-winning, common-rail second-gen Cummins to Weekend On The Edge for another battle with the Northwest Dyno Series’ SuperFlow. This time, a more aggressive tune-up unleashed even more power, with Myer’s Dodge clearing 4,280 hp corrected, and 3,503 hp uncorrected. The latter number (i.e. no correction factor) effectively gives Myer the uncorrected chassis dyno horsepower record. Better yet, he’s squeezing that power through his owner-built (at Power Driven Diesel) 48RE benefiting from Goerend Transmission’s captive clutch system (higher line pressure for better clutch holding without risk of ballooning the converter). A few stats from the run include 6,200 rpm, 8.5 pounds of nitrous, 133-psi of boost, and a favorable 118-psi of drive pressure.

Trucks Unleashed Brings Diesel Drag Racing To Edgewater Sports Park

ODSS racing rolled through Cleves, Ohio over the weekend with the Trucks Unleashed event commencing at Edgewater Sports Park. Not only would Stainless Diesel’s new Duramax dragster break into the 4’s (with a 4.92) for the first time, but driver Brianna Gilbert would go on to win the Top Diesel category after Michael Cordova and the S&S team suffered transmission breakage. But that’s not all, by a long-shot. Spectators were also treated to Justin Zeigler’s Wagler-powered and Exergy-fueled Cummins storming the 1/8-mile in 4.54 seconds at 171 mph. And, in just his second trip to the track in the new truck, David Petrick’s ultra-low 4×4 Pro Mod made multiple A-to-B passes in the 4’s—with a 4.67-second ET being the quickest. The Return Of The Duramax K15

Version 3.0 of Wyatt Stengel’s Duramax-powered GMC K15 is coming in hot. First and foremost, Wehrli Custom Powder Coating nailed the orange paint-matching on all the new go-fast parts. For a solid foundation, Wyatt’s ’70 K1500 will now boast an LML-based short-block under the hood, courtesy of Diesel Addictions Performance (built with Mahle Motorsport forged-aluminum pistons). It will also sport a sizable compound turbo arrangement (complete with Preston Smith heat-wrapped housings), with Exergy continuing to fuel the beast. No ETA yet on a debut date, but expect this rendition—one of the most recognizable body swapped Duramax rides ever built—to hit the drag ‘n drive scene once it’s complete.

Diesel History: First-Gen Cummins Edition

5.9L Prototypes—The First First-Gens

If you enjoy learning about the history of Cummins-powered Dodge Rams, you need to check out the latest video from W350 Crew Cab and Just Diesels (full show here). In it, Robert “Cummins” Schwarzli walks you through the backstories of seven different first-gen prototypes. Not surprisingly, the truck shown (known as D001) is arguably the most famous candidate, a D350 built in 1985. This is the Dodge that Cummins used to prove to Chrysler its 6BT (5.9L) would fit in its trucks engine bays. It was shipped down to Columbus, Indiana, where Cummins ripped the 360 V-8 gas out and dropped a 6BT in its place. Further prototypes in the video include the D002, a five-speed 4×4 W model that saw plenty of use (and abuse), and both the unofficial and official D023, with the latter prototype (a 1986 W250 with a Getrag five-speed manual) accumulating more than 300,000 test miles.

PHP’s Game-Changing 6.0L Power Stroke Programmer

6.0L Power Stroke owners, Power Hungry Performance hasn’t forgotten you. In fact, the north Georgia Power Stroke experts are fine-tuning their latest programmer for ’03-’07 Fords.
