Hold on to your hats. U.C.C. is finally here. And it’s going to be wild. Starting first thing Friday, the 10th anniversary Ultimate Callout Challenge kicks off at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, and with it comes the long-awaited Seventy 2 Fast race—the fuel-only, 6,000-pound maximum, 72mm VS Racing spec turbo class with a guaranteed $70,000 purse. On top of that, it’s the second stop on the ODSS circuit: Outlaw Diesel Revenge. Of course, a sizeable portion of the grounds will be dedicated to one of the largest show ‘n shines in the industry, the Northwest Dyno Series and Blessed Performance chassis dynos will be up and running, and Saturday gets capped off with a massive burnout contest. If you make it to one event this summer, makes sure it’s this one!

A 2,000+ HP 6.0L Is Headed To Indy

KC Turbos is bringing the heat from Arizona with them to UCC—and Kill Devil Diesel has ensured their fire-breathing Power Strokes perform as expected. As for the Ultimate Callout Challenge, KC’s “Haunter” Super Duty—the nitrous-huffing, compound turbo monstrosity that packs a billet block 6.0L Power Stroke punched out to 7.0L—is bringing a dyno-confirmed 2,031 hp to the battle. For the Seventy 2 Fast race, a Kill Devil Diesel-prepped 6.7L Power Stroke—swapped into an ’05 F-350, no less—should make a strong showing for the Ford camp. In addition to KDD’s help, KC Turbos’ dual-effort race program was made possible thanks to the likes of Goerend Transmission, Warren Diesel Injection, Truck Source Diesel & Off-Road, Transmissions Done Right, and Odawgs Diesel.

2,271-RWHP On Fuel!

Third Gen Cummins Dodge Ram 2500 JBJ Diesel Chassis Dyno Testing

The folks at JBJ Diesel are bringing one of the nastiest third-gens we’ve ever seen to Ultimate Callout Challenge. Big compounds feed big boost into their 6.7L Cummins while S&S Diesel Motorsport fuels it. During a recent visit to the chassis dyno, the truck made an insane 2,271-rwhp on fuel—on a factory CM849 ECU, no less. A pair of Ordnance 650 CP3’s combine with a set of 5.9L-based, Ordnance injectors to produce the near-2,300 hp figure. With a handful of nitrous kits thrown at it, who knows how many ponies JBJ’s Dodge will clear on the rollers in Indy. Make sure you’re there in person to find out!

Seventy 2 Fast Prep

1,640 HP On The (Engine) Dyno

Engine Horsepower Dyno Graph 72 Fast 6.7L Cummins Diesel Race Truck

As far as engine dyno numbers are concerned, David Petrick is bringing one of the highest horsepower Seventy 2 Fast candidates to Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. Whether or not the 1,640 hp his engine made at New Performance Automotive translates into a $70,000 win this weekend remains to be seen, but even with a 15-percent loss through the driveline he could be looking at nearly 1,400 hp making it to the wheels. Now for the next part: track testing. Hopefully David has enough time to get this potent setup through the 1/8-mile a few times before Friday. After all, with horsepower being relatively close at the top of the class, a driver who’s consistently quick on the tree and can cut a solid 60-foot will likely go home the big winner.

1,372 HP At The Wheels

In the months leading up to the Seventy 2 Fast race, a boatload of trucks have stopped by Firepunk Diesel’s establishment for chassis dyno testing. And because it’s been such a hot spot, the folks there created a leader board. Well, on a return visit to the rollers last week Cody Lambert went ahead and bumped his name to the top of the list. A few last-minute injector changes from Flux Diesel Injection proved the difference maker, taking Cody’s third-gen from 1,207 hp back in April to 1,372 hp this time (along with 1,822 lb-ft). Beyond the help he’s received from Flux and Firepunk, Cody’s healthy Dodge is aided by the likes of Fleece, Exergy, WP Developments, Hot Shot’s Secret, and AirDog.

Stainless Diesel’s Dragster Is Alive

Stainless Diesel Dragster Fastest Duramax V8 Vgt Turbo Wagler Rail Race

It’s been in the works for some time—and now it’s finally coming to a track near you. Stainless Diesel’s Brianna Gilbert will sit behind the wheel of the company’s Duramax-powered dragster. Built and tuned by MTKB Racing and with a helping hand from Wagler Competition Products, the all-new rail packs a Stainless 5-blade VGT, S&S fueling, and Hot Shot’s Secret fluids coursing through its veins. While testing at Wagler Motorsports Park over the weekend, Brianna piloted the dragster through the ‘660 in 5.6x seconds on fuel. Not a bad start for what is a surprisingly simple, quick-spooling, and ultra lightweight hot-rod.
