Cummins Killer III Sends 4,500 HP To The Ground
Cummins Killer III dominates at America’s Pull, ODSS drag racing from Kentucky, and the shop behind four coveted Power Stroke records.
It might’ve been a long road to the top, but Cummins Killer III is now a consistent threat in the Super Stock diesel truck class. Yet somehow, it’s more than that. Saturday night at America’s Pull in Henry, Illinois, the infamous GMC with the mechanically injected, triple-turbo’d, billet-aluminum Wagler DX460 Duramax under the hood moved the sled 394 feet. Incredibly, the V-8 monstrosity put 27-feet on Second Place finisher, Scheid Diesel’s Kent Crowder. During the near-400-foot spectacle, the engine turned 6,800 rpm, saw an insane 163-psi of boost, and produced a strain-gauge-estimated 4,489 hp. Last but not least, driver Dylan Kusilek admitted he even had to lift at the end of the track…

ODSS Racing From The Bluegrass Truck Jam

Not rain nor sweltering heat could keep elite-level, Outlaw Diesel Super Series drag racing from commencing at Beech Bend Raceway Park over the weekend. Despite pop-up thunderstorms halting Friday night’s festivities, Saturday proved jam-packed with 1/8-mile action—even a 3.81-second effort (at 203 mph) from Top Diesel winner, Michael Cordova in the S&S-backed dragster. Winners (and runner-ups) in other racing categories would consist of a solid mix of both new blood and familiar faces. Justin Goode took the win in Super Diesel, Justin Zeigler stole the show in Pro Truck, and Stainless Diesel’s Brianna Gilbert earned her first win in 5.90 Index. The 6.70 Index class belonged to Montana Cherry while Jordan Blackard and his Blessed Performance-verified, 745-rwhp (and VP44-fueled) second-gen grabbed a huge double win in 7.70 Index and ET Bracket.

Mat Hannula’s New Freedom-built Cummins

Mat Hannula’s new deck-plate Cummins is proof that all good things are worth waiting for. Instead of thrashing to get something on the track earlier this season, Mat has slowly been getting his race program back together—and thanks to help from Freedom Racing Engines he’ll have a fine-tuned recipe to campaign at the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza. Mat and Fleece Performance Engineering’s Chase Fleece recently put the freshly assembled Cummins through its paces on the engine dyno with what appears to be a 72mm VS Racing turbo feeding it boost. Mat’s fuel combination entails an Exergy Performance 550 Alpha CP3 feeding a set of Dynomite Diesel Products injectors. Be on the lookout for Mat’s 5-second capable third-gen at SDX.

KDD-Assembled Power Strokes Live At The Top

If you didn’t know Kill Devil Diesel had a hand in the engine programs of many of the top-running Power Strokes in existence, now you do. Regardless which generation Power Stroke it is—7.3L, 6.0L, 6.4L, or 6.7L—KDD has a record of some kind. KC Turbos’ billet, 6.0L-based 7.0L has powered its 4,500-pound Super Duty to a 5.12-second ‘660. The CGI-block, Kill Devil 7.3L in Jelibuilt Performance’s F-350 made it the quickest 1/8-mile 4×4 7.3L in the world (5.137-second ET). Rudy’s all-billet 6.4L has been 4.62 at 164 mph—making it the quickest 1/8-mile 4×4 6.4L. And JDB Diesel Performance’s 2020 F-250 has gone 5.49 through the eighth. In Kill Devil Diesel’s own words, “Diesel records aren’t set by accident. They’re earned though relentless testing, countless late nights, and a team willing to push beyond what everyone else thinks is possible.”

Ryan Milliken Applies For A Presidential Pardon

Hardway Performance owner, Ryan Milliken, has joined a growing list of individuals who’ve applied for a presidential pardon from the Trump Administration for Clean Air Act violations. For Ryan, it’s been a long, dark road—and one where he was charged with a felony for conspiracy to violate the Clean Air Act, sentenced to 5 years of probation, fined $75,000, and denied his right to vote (or bear arms). Last week, Ryan’s pardon package was submitted to the powers that be. Let’s hope it moves swiftly through the chain of command and finds the President’s desk as quickly as possible.
