Cummins Killer III Sweeps SDX Weekend
40 Super Stocks go on the hook at the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza, a new Seventy 2 Fast dyno record, and the next Cummins intake horn shootout.
Nearly 40 Super Stock diesel trucks went on the hook at the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza this weekend, with the 30th anniversary of the event bringing two days of dirt-slinging action back to Terre Haute, Indiana. Of all the high-caliber competition, Craig Dickey and the team behind the Cummins Killer III GMC proved unbeatable, and all but stole the show. Both nights, the triple-turbo, mechanically injected Wagler V-8 stormed down the track—winning by 6 feet on Friday and 6 feet again on Saturday. Losing the battle but winning the war, a pair of Third Place finishes at SDX helped Jon Woskob and his “Rollin’ Coal” Dodge sew up the PPL Hot Shot’s Secret Champions Tour crown for 2026.
ODSS Racing Is Back In Terre Haute
Like the PPL truck and tractor pulls, the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza’s return to Terre Haute meant that ODSS drag racing returned with it. And while some of the organization’s heavy hitters struggled to find traction, several familiar names ultimately found a way to win. Among the victors were: Michael Cordova in the S&S Diesel Motorsport rail (Top Diesel), Steve Royalty behind the wheel of the “Climate Change” Dakota (Super Diesel), Justin Zeigler piloting “Dirty Diana” to yet another Pro Truck win, and Brett Marcum earning his second 5.90 Index win of the season. Additionally, last year’s 6.70 Index champion, Jeremy Stickney, showed up and knifed his way through the competition for a victory, and Damon Yoder got the W in 7.70 Index. When it comes time for the $100,000 Seventy2 Fast race at the NHRDA World Finals, you won’t see Cody Lambert bringing a knife to a gun fight. He’ll be packing some heavy artillery. In fact, perhaps the heaviest artillery in Ennis. Last week, Cody’s third-gen Cummins made 1,403 hp and 2,325 lb-ft of torque on Firepunk Diesel’s chassis dyno—a new record for the Seventy2 Fast class. Squeezing that kind of fuel-only horsepower through a VS Racing 72/89/1.01 T4 is nothing short of incredible, and Cody is quick to acknowledge the help that’s gotten him here. That help includes a bulletproof Cummins from Freedom Racing Engines, cutting-edge CP3’s from Exergy Performance, an AirDog 220 5G, the latest competition injectors from Flux, a WP Developments converter, Hot Shot’s Secret fluids, and of course Firepunk’s tuning, dyno time, and on-track support.

Which 6.7L Cummins Intake Flows The Most?
Power Driven Diesel opened a can of worms with this one last week, as they embark on a flow bench quest to see which 6.7L Cummins intake horn flows the most air. Will it be the stock manifold or an aftermarket unit. And if aftermarket, which one? Better yet, do the results of testing and comparing individual intakes even matter? After all, the real, tangible airflow restrictions exist in the intake shelf and the cylinder head itself, not the intake horn… Nevertheless, this is a hot debate as of late within the diesel industry—and it looks like it isn’t going to conclude any time soon.

Super Stocks Inbound At The Hoosier State Showdown
Moving on to the next late-summer attraction, we make our way to North Salem, Indiana this weekend for the 17th annual Hoosier State Showdown. For 2026, Super Stock diesel trucks are invited to the small town truck and tractor pull hosted by Fleece Performance Engineering—and we hope an army of them show up to compete. Pro Street (2.6) diesel trucks, Limited Pro Stock (3.0) diesel trucks, and Altered Farm tractor classes are also on the docket and will follow Indiana Pulling League rules. The action commences Saturday, September 5th at 5:30 pm. General admission costs just $5, VIP pit passes are $15, and kids 7 and under get in free.
